Een en ander houdt ook verband met de onzekerheid van de duur van de regering van de volgende bekende koning van Tyrus: Baal‑M'zer II.* Vooraleer op deze materie verder op in te gaan, moeten we eerst de bekende feiten uit het leven van Ittobaal nader beschouwen. Ittobaal I blijkt van het kaliber Hiram I te zijn. Hij treedt in zijn voetsporen om menig terrein. Hij was koning van Tyriërs en Sidoniërs en misschien zelfs ook van Byblos. Het lijkt er in ieder geval op, dat er een soort van samenwerkingsverband was tussen Byblos en Tyrus (boek 138: Levant, blz 57). Hij sticht verder in Libië Auza en dichter bij huis Botrys (dat benoorden Byblos ligt!). Op het eind van zijn leven laat hij de Egyptische haven aan de zuidkant van de eilandstad bouwen, maar eerst krijgt hij te maken met de Assyriërs. Hij wordt uitgenodigd om met vele anderen te verschijnen op een bijeenkomst te Kalach, die Assurnasirpal II bijeengeroepen heeft. Sidon en Tyrus geven in ieder geval acte de présence. All this is also related to the uncertainty of the duration of the government of the next known king of Tyre: Baal M'zer II * Before we go into this matter further, we have to look first to the known facts from the life of Ittobaal. Ittobaal I showed to of the caliber of Hiram I. He performs in his footsteps in many grounds. He was king of Tyrians and Sidonians and perhaps even of Byblos. It seems in any case, that there was a kind of partnership between Byblos and Tyre (book 138: Levant, p 57). He founds further Auza in Libya and closer to home Botrys (north of Byblos that is!). At the end of his life he let the Egyptian port on the south side of the island city be built, but first he has to deal with the Assyrians. He is invited by many others to appear at a meeting in Calah, which has Assurnasirpal II convened. Sidon and Tyre give at least one appearance.
