De echo van de Hettieten. Albrecht Goetze bericht daarover in ‘Hittite Rituals, Incantations and Description of Festivals (ANET blz 352): “Waar U ook mag zijn, o cedergoden, of het nu in de hemel is, of het nu in het land van de Mitanni is, of in het land van Kinza, van Tunip, van Oegarit..... het land van Kinahhi, het land van Amurru, het land van Sidon, het land van Tyrus ...., of je nu boven bent, of in welk land dan ook, kom nu terug naar Hattiland.” In deze echo in de vorm van een bede komt ook het land van Tyrus ter sprake en wel als laatste. Tyrus bevindt zich op de rand van de Hettietische invloedsfeer van weleer. We spreken van een echo, omdat het rijk van de Hettieten onder de mokerslagen van de Zeevolken al lang ten gronde was gegaan.   De rol van de neo-Hettieten. Na de ineenstorting van hun grote rijk in Klein-Azië stichten zij kleinere staten in Noord-Syrië. Ze zakken echter steeds verder af naar het zuiden tot aan Jeruzalem toe, waar een heerser Abdi-Hipa opduikt. Ezechiel (XVI,3) zegt veel later: “je vader was een Amoriet, en je moeder een Hettiet, samengevat een goede combinatie.” De Asianische bevolking vermengt zich met de Semietische. (Boek 317. G.Contenau, La Civilisation Phénicienne, blz 359 e.v).   De kans is aanwezig, dat het Hettietische element ook terug te vinden is in Tyrus.

The echo of the Hittites. Albrecht Goetze message about it in 'Hittite Rituals, Incantations and Description of Festivals” (ANET page 352): "Wherever you may be, cedar o gods, whether in heaven, whether it is in the land of Mitanni, or in the country of Kinza, of Tunip, from Ugarit ..... the country of Kinahhi, the land of Amurru, the land of Sidon, the land of Tyre ...., whether you're above or in any country, now come back to Hattiland. " In this echo in the form of a prayer is also the country of Tyre mentioned as well as last. Tyre is located on the edge of the  Hittite influence of the early days. We speak of an echo, because the kingdom of the Hittites had gone long ago. Blown away under the hammer of the Sea Peoples. The role of the Neo-Hittites. After the collapse of their great empire in Asia Minor they found smaller states in northern Syria. However, they sink further and further down to the south to Jerusalem, where a ruler Abdi-Hipa pops up. Ezekiel (XVI, 3) says much later, "your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite, summed up a good combination." The Asianic population mixes with the Semitic. (Book 317. G.Contenau, La Civilisation Phénicienne, pages 359 et seq.) There is a chance that the Hittite element can also be found in Tyre.
