Volgens Flavius Josephus wordt Tyrus 240 jaar voor de bouw van de temple in Jeruzalem gesticht. Voor deze herstichting komen we dan uit bij het jaartal c.1190 v.C (c.950+240).  Een goeddeels steriele laag tegen het einde van de 12e eeuw v.C lijkt dat te ondersteunen (Boek 315 G.Contenau, blz 43/44). Toch vindt er geen massieve totale verwoesting plaats, want de faïence werkplaats produceert gewoon verder.
