Veel later zien we op 23 juli 174 na Chr een brief verschijnen van Tyrische handelaars uit Pozzuoli om kwijtschelding van belasting om een dubbele heffing te voorkomen. Het antwoord komt uit Tyrus op 8 oktober van datzelfde jaar. De senaat van Tyrus gaat daarmee akkoord, maar de bijdrage aan het onderhoud van de tempel blijft gehandhaafd. Mogen we hieruit concluderen, dat nog steeds het oeroude gebruik van de afdracht aan de tempel van Melqart opgeld doet?! Alleen voor Melqart moeten we dan nu wel Herakles of eerder nog Hercules lezen.   T.t.v. Septimus Severus (193-211 na Chr) wordt Tyrus een kolonie van IUS Italicum en wordt de hoofdstad van de provincie Syria-Phoenice. Een deel daarvan heet Phoenicia prima.   Imperiale munten. Septimus Severus x Julia Domna (dochter van een priester van de zon van Emesa). Haar zus is Julia Maesa en haar 2 nichten heten: Julia Soemias en Julia Mamaea. Septimus Severus sticht de Romeinse kolonie Tyrus. De zoon van Soemias is keizer in 218 na Chr als Marcus Aurelius Antoninus en staat bekend onder zijn bijnaam van Elagabal (tevens priester van Emesa). Hij sticht de Romeinse kolonie te Sidon. Afbeeldingen op de Tyrische munten zijn o.a.van: Agenoor, Zeus+stier, Cilix, Thasos, Cadmos, Europa en Didon.
