De eeuw van de neergang (zevende eeuw v.C).   ☻Baal   Een tijdlang werd Tyrus nog beschermd door bufferstaten, maar daar gaat nu steeds meer verandering in komen. We zijn aangeland in de 3e fase van de Assyrische expansie. In het begin was het nog sporadisch om een tribuut te kunnen opstrijken. Daarna worden er Assyrische goeverneurs over provincies aangesteld, maar nu gaat het steeds meer op verwoesting en deportaties lijken. Alles onder het mom: Jullie kwamen ons vroeger schamele geschenken brengen, nu gaan we de rijke buit zelf wel halen.       Uiteindelijk resten van het grote Fenicië nog maar 3 kleine min of meer autonome onderdelen. De eilanden Tyrus en Arwad en op het vasteland wordt alleen Byblos nog enigszins gedoogd.
